SUNDAY JANUARY 14th MEETING & PROGRAM

What better way to spend a chilly winter afternoon than enjoying a relaxing presentation on our favorite subject – ART!  Mick McAndrews will demonstrate his plein air painting in watercolors at 1:00pm at Encore Center (Harleysville Senior Center), 312 Alumni Drive. Mick is an award winning artist whose paintings capture both the mood and atmosphere of his subject through the magic of watercolor and a reverence for the principles of design. Mick is a signature member of both the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Watercolor Societies and the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association. There will be a short business meeting and refreshments before the presentation. Come out and join your friends in art for this special afternoon program.

TREE TRUNKS ARE NOT BROWN!

That was one of many good tips Terry Souders gave our group at the October program. Terry regaled us with a humorous account of his journey as an artist from drawing along with “Winky Dink” on the TV screen with a grease pencil at age six to launching into watercolors at the encouragement of his mentor artist Ranulf Bye. Terry, a graduate of Penn State, told us that his college advisor said he had aptitude to be an artist or a farmer! Terry certainly took the right path in choosing art and we enjoyed seeing some of his earliest work. He wrapped up the evening

PVAC reaches 60!

PVAC REACHES 60 -THAT’S NOT OLD! It was a very enjoyable evening on Oct. 5th when approximately 30 members gathered at Woodside Inn to celebrate PVAC’s 60th anniversary. The banquet room was lovely displaying paintings from members past and present including some work by our founder Charles Gardner, the food was scrumptious and there was plenty of merriment and reminiscing. Our special guest, Charles Gardner, Jr, shared stories of his artist father’s passion for painting. A great big THANKS goes to Lori Quinque-Quinn for all her work to put this special celebration together. Join us in 2027 for the 70th anniversary party, stay tuned for

“Paint, paint, paint!”, says Glenn Harren

“Paint, paint, paint!” That was the advice given by artist Glenn Harren to the group at our September 20th meeting. Glenn displayed a few of his large oil paintings and sketches and carried on a relaxed chat with us sharing insights to his approach to painting. Glenn stressed the importance of practice through sketching and painting, “cover a square mile of canvasses” or do “10,000 miles of paintings”. That may sound impossible, but with Glenn’s obvious

SEASON WRAP-UP PICNIC

SEASON WRAP-UP PICNIC A great evening was enjoyed at our annual potluck picnic on June 21st. There were no elections of officers this year, but we had some lively discussion (all with our mouths full of yummy food) about upcoming programs and a suitable place to hold them. (We will be holding steady for the upcoming season at Encore Center in Harleysville.)
