Elise Phillips is a contemporary American painter known for her evocative landscapes and seascapes that capture light, atmosphere, and emotion. Her work is deeply rooted in the American Impressionist tradition, reflecting both her artistic heritage and personal vision.

Born in Wayne, Pennsylvania into a family with an extensive background in the fine arts, she graduated from The Hussian School of Art in Philadelphia and initially pursued a successful career as an illustrator and graphic designer. Driven by a passion for painting, she enrolled at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, emerging well schooled in the tradition of the Academy.

Elise maintains a studio in Elverson, Pennsylvania, drawing inspiration from the bucolic countryside of northern Chester County. Her work also reflects her experiences on Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and the Eastern Shore of Maryland as well as wherever her travels take her. Her paintings are characterized by their sensitive use of color and poetic brushwork representing light and form. She has been recognized for her ability to transform ordinary scenes into compelling paintings.

An award winning artist, Elise is a signature member of the American Impressionist Society and a signature member of the American Society of Marine Artists as well as the Philadelphia Water Color Society. She is also affiliated with the Oil Painters of America and the Mid Atlantic Plein Air Painters.

Elise views her art as a visual journal, capturing the essence of the places she visits and the emotions they evoke. She aims to create timeless pieces that connect the present with the past, allowing viewers to experience the same sense of nostalgia and beauty that inspires her.
