    Watercolor Fundamentals - Fall 2024

    with Linda Gerhard

This class focuses on the basics of watercolor materials and techniques. It is designed for adults who are new to the medium. Whether you have no experience painting at all, or you already work in another medium and wish to expand your skill set to include watercolor, we will explore this medium inspired by simple still life set-ups and your own reference photos

Materials required for this class are watercolor paints, brushes, a pad of paper, paper towels, backer board, a hair dryer and a plastic drop cloth

Linda is a retired corporate trainer. She has more than 25 years of experience painting with watercolor. She received her art training through classes taught by professional artist instructors (studying with Ann Brennan, Margaret Dawson, James McFarlane and JoAnn Cooksey Bono) at local art clubs and through private instruction

Acrylic Painting with Rich Godshall - Fall 2024

Join us for this four-week acrylic painting class.

This class will be geared to adults who are already familiar with acrylic painting as well as those with little or no experience. We will cover the basics as well as some more advanced issues regarding composition, color, and value - the three components that can make or break a painting. We will generally be working from photographic references that you have taken.  Should you wish to set up a still life that would also be fine.

If you have painted with acrylics previously then bring the supplies you are familiar with. If you do not have any supplies I will be issuing a supply list.

I would like to say do not be intimidated by some paint and brushes. It's a fun class and you're gonna have a good time!

Students will supply their own easel and usual painting supplies. Bring your photos and imagination.

Class taught by Rich Godshall, a PVAC member. Rich worked in the graphics art field as an illustrator, designer and art director before opening Off the Wall Gallery in 2002. He has now retired and devotes time to painting landscapes in acrylic. He is influenced by the Hudson River School painters and the New Hope Impressionists.  He previously taught painting for many years at Abington Adult Evening School.

Thursday evenings a 2 1/2 hour class - 6:00pm-8:30pm  beginning Sept 26th, this is the first set in a series of four-week sessions.  Please contact the coordinator if the time does not suit you.

    Cost: PVAC Member: $80,  NON-Members: $90
